  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Rollback from 9.0.1 to 8.6 due to no PHP 5.2?

Hi

This may be a no-brainer... but here goes.

I rent a value 1 server from 1and1 and have recently upgraded Plesk to 9.0.1 having been incorrectly told that 9.0.1 includes PHP 5.2 as I have a client who wants to use the LiveCart software which requires PHP 5.2.0 or above.

After a quick look I can see that Plesk 9.0.1 doesn't come with PHP5.2 nor does it support it.

Can I rollback to Plesk 8.6? And if so, there any way to get PHP 5.2 working with Plesk 8.6?

1and1 tell me that 8.6 will work with PHP 5.2 but I would have to compile and install it myself, which goes way above my head :/ . I am a web designer who does a wee bit of PHP here and there, but I don't normally touch server admin other than setting up domains and webspace in Plesk.

Kind regards

MisterM

My word! That was scary!!!

But it worked like a charm.

Will this work exactly the same for Plesk 8.6?

Many thanks for your help :)

Mr M

Absolutely, it would work on any CentOS, RHEL, or Fedora system. And on that note, we just put PHP 5.2.9 out into the atomic-testing channel today

I'm in the same position as MisterM - vps at 1and1 and in way over my head. Except you seem to have succeeded with your installation so obviously have more knowledge than me.

Thanks to atomicturtle for posting the instructions except they are too cryptic for me to follow. Could someone please expand the steps as I have no idea what yum and rpm are.

Thanks,

Geoff

This continues in the "PHP 5.2 with mcrypt extension" thread
