RPM based upgrades fail

Hi,

I fiddled more than a week with a broken update of plesk to 8.2.0...

After big logs of broken updates and hand-made workarounds I found whats going wrong: the postinstall scripts failed.... I've always get inside logs
"ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"

Hell.

Whats going on? a few day later I found why: the admin-password had a "!" inside. Changing the password to a new one without "!" - updates works perfekt. I don't know exactly why, but this is a real problem. It cost me half of my holidays :S

EDIT
sorry, not "!" - "#"

I think on some mysql server variants a "#" always marks beginning of a comment. (We're using mysql 4.1.22)
