Scheduled Backup sticks at 100% and prevents any more backups

ScottGoddard

Basic Pleskian
My daily scheduled FTP backup gets to 100% and everything seems to be complete (backup file is transferred and seems to be OK) but then the backup manager just sticks like that. The backup stays listed in 'Current Backup Tasks' at 100%. It sticks like that until the system is restarted and no further scheduled backups will run.

When the server is restarted the backup task shows as Failed and can be removed.

The next scheduled task will then start OK but will stick again at 100%.

The server is running CentOS 6.5 and panel version 11.5.30 Update #31.

The problem started on 26th January.

I am not sure if it is connected but the panel seem to have stopped checking for updates also. It shows
Code:
The system is up-to-date; last checked at Jan 28, 2014 03:24 AM
which is nearly a week ago and around the same time the backups started to fail. I have updated the panel manually but the problem is still there.

I have posted some of this a few days ago on a similar old thread but there was absolutely no response so I have had to start a new thread.

Thanks for any help

No suggestions on this?

I am not the only person to have had this problem (See Here) but that thread goes back to November 2013 with no fix.

Some help would be very much appreciated.

Still not even an acknowledgement of this from any of the Parallels Team?

The problem appears to be occurring on the windows platform too - http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?291542-Backup-Manager-pmm-ras-exe-stuck

After quite a bit of blind digging, it seems that the following process sticks and also shows the FTP connection as still open. /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --upload-file --file-from=/usr/local/psa/PMM/tmp/backupZbheNX/backup_info_1402081327.xml.tar --file-to=ftps://[email protected]/backup_1402081327.tar --use-ftp-passive-mode

The log files appear to be identical to ones from before the problem started occurring apart from they are all missing the final line:

End of older log from successful backup:
Code:

If the backup is scheduled to save in the server repository and not sent to the FTP repository, it completes OK. So the problem appears to be with pmm-ras not exiting the FTP transfer correctly?

Hello,

Same problem here, did you manage to find a solution ?

Edit : In my process list, i can see this line which is here for more than 24 hours :
root 10806 0.0 0.0 127780 6376 ? SN Feb20 0:22 /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --upload-file --file-from=/usr/local/psa/PMM/tmp/backupisAl9p/Serveur_complet_info_1402200203.xml.tar --file-to=ftp://[email protected]/Serveur_complet_1402200203.tar

The backup is anyway well uploaded on my ftp server, but it prevents new backup schedule...

Thank you

In my process list, i can see a process which is present for more than 24 hours :
/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --upload-file --file-from=/usr/local/psa/PMM/tmp/backupisAl9p/Serveur_complet_info_1402200203.xml.tar --file-to=ftp://[email protected]/Serveur_complet_1402200203.tar

The backup is anyway well uploaded to my ftp server but it prevents the next backup executions.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

My backups are working now, I switched ftp mode to passive in the remote ftp configuration, and I have activated the "split archive in multiple files" in the backup configuration.
I don't understand why it was working without these options before, but now it works so it's ok for me.

Regards
