Question Sent emails fail to arrive

Mike Brogan

New Pleskian
Mail sent from my server (Onyx 17.5.3) using the serveer's SMTP server (Postfix) often fail to arrive \t the destination with no bounceback, I can verify this by sending a test to Gmail, The test never arrives.

I have set SPF and DMARC records for the domain name but this doesn't solve the problem. I have been told that the server's security certificate needs to be upgraded and this could weel be the caase. Currently the SSL settings for the kserver are as follows:(day10.net is the domain name for the server)

Certificate for securing Plesk - Lets Encrypt day10.net from day10.net.
Certificate for securing mail - default certificate from server pool.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the problem please? Could the certificate be causing the problem?. If so what should I change it to? Or is there something else that I am missing?

Thanks
Mike

What is in your mail log files? Check and trace the mail there. There you will see if the mail was delivered to the remote destination or not.

OK, so your log shows that Google has accepted your mail, so you should see it in your inbox (or Junk folder) in gmail. So I don't think it indicates a problem with your server configuration, as Google is quite picky and will reject your mail if they think something's not right. Did you check all your folders at gmail? Maybe it's in Junk or some other folder. Also check if you have any filtering rules or forwarding address configured at gmail.

Nevertheless, you should check this article and apply the recommended settings to your sender domain to increase your chances that your mails will show up in the inbox at gmail: Emails sent from a Plesk server to mail services like Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo! Mail appear in spam. How to troubleshoot?

Hi Monty,

Thhey are indeed goiing into the Gmail spam folder. All emails from that domain, morris-commercial.com ae going in there. I've checked the domain reputation and that is neutral. Could the lack of a DKIM signature be the cause?

Thansk Mike

OK, so you should follow the steps in the KB article I posted above and add DKIM and SPF records and maybe DMARC.
