Set up the email account

I am having trouble with setting up an email account
to set up the email I go to Mail > Create Email Address > and enter email address ([email protected]) and check the "access to control panel" and create a password and also check "mailbox" .
But in the email client, when I go to use SMTP and I enter the following info:
- SMTP Server: example.com
- username: [email protected]
- password: password I created above
- port 25
- user TLS

I get this error:
Your other email provider is responding too slowly. Please try again later, or contact the administrator of your other domain for further information.

can someone please help me with this issue?

I changed the username to info but still get the same error message
is there anyway I can make sure SMTP is working properly ?

Have you tried check SMTP connection with telnet for instance?

like this : " telnet example.com 25 " ?
I tried this but it doesn't connect since I am using cloudflare.
But when I did this " telnet SERVERIP 25" I got connected

I did that but I think because I use cloudflare it doesnt work
so I tried with serverIP and it worked

I can't seem to get it working,
I just tried to access webmail.example.com and it returns a 500 error
not sure if this is the reason I can't set up stmp
