Setup email address with external DNS registrar

Leygues

New Pleskian
Hi!

I'm currently running Plesk 11.5.30 #51 over CentOS 6.5 hosted by OVH and i manage a DNS through a registrar (Netnames).

DNS and server administration is not my domain of expertise and therefore i'm requesting assistance here.

I created a mailbox via the interface and run a test to send a email to the created email address, for example sake lets say [email protected]. The test failed. I think i need to update the MX record in the registrar interface.

From there, is it as simple as updating the MX record at Netnames with the following value?
Pref: 10
Hostname: mx1.redirect.ovh.net
IP Address: xxx.xx.xx.xx which is the IP address of my OVH server?
TTL: 3600

Is there any else to change from Plesk interface?

Thanks!

Adrien

I write the solution as some people might look for it:

- Go on your OVH server and create a mailbox using plesk
- Go on your registrar, remove MX entries
- Enter the name of your server instead, in my case VPSXXXXX.ovh.net
