smtp server is dead plesk won't restart it

I stopped getting mail. I tried telnet localhost 25 and got Connection refused. Please shows QMail as not running, but does not restart. Please help!

what os?
my first thoughts are to disable MAPS temporarly and see if it starts ok, If so then check that all of your MAPS zones are still valid.

In any case, all of Plesk service management tools didn't help. What finally helped was a simple reboot.
