SSL for Plesk panel

hardbrasil

Regular Pleskian
hello fellas,
is possible to add a ssl to a IP number despite of domain name?

i would like to know if i can buy a ssl and set a IP on website address,

thanks

I don't understand what you're asking.. You want to assign the SSL Cert to an IP address, not a domain name? I think it's possible, but definitely not recommended. Create a DNS entry and assign the IP of the server. Domains are cheap.

Yeah, sure. Go to
Plesk -> Tools & Settings -> SSL Certificates

And add the SSL Certificate.
Then click on the "Secure Plesk" button.

Sure, if your clients go to https://theirdomain.com:8443 they will get a security warning, but you can always direct them to login via the actual secured domain name https://yourserver.com:8443.

And if you use the hostname https://mail.yourserver.com:8443 you can reuse you certificate for mail servers too, saving some cash.

I hope that helps
Kind regards

Lloyd

Hi Loyd,
this is the way that i am doing so far,
i would like to stop the obligation to register a domain for each server that i open,
so for this reason i suggest to put ssl on IP.

thank you buddy!
