SSL Setup Query

DWMTS1

New Pleskian
I have installed SSL on a domain sitting on a dedicated IP address.

Before I switch the DNS for the domain from another host, how can I confirm my SSL is working properly?

Also, do I need to install the CA Part of the SSL?

Certificate is from Geotrust, QuickSSL Premium.

You can use the following website to check your SSL installation.

http://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html

In the hostname field, enter the hostname that you can use to preview your hosting before DNS changes are propagated.

This can be setup under: Tools & Settings > General Settings > Website Preview Settings

Alternatively, you should be able to enter the dedicated IP Address as the hostname. The SSL Checker will display the certificate CN in the output.

You would enter something like the below in the hostname field on the SSL Checker site:

newdomain.co.uk.123-123-123-123.serverhostname.co.uk

The SSL Checker will throw up some errors, but you should be able to get the information you require from the output, such as active certificate Common Names and certificate chains (CA)
