• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Subdomain websites not visible on Internet after migration

SteveW

New Pleskian
I have just completed a migration from one dedicated server to another. It looks like all the data has transferred ok and when I changed the A Record on the hosting where I registered the domain the main website is visible. However, when I type in a subdomain name in the browser to look at a website in one of the subdomains it is not showing up. It would be great if someone has any ideas where I've made a rookie mistake. Thanks.

I have pointed the DNS servers where the domain name was registered at the dns server noted in the plesk zone file and I am hoping that this has worked although the subdomains are still not showing although I know that it takes time. If anyone has any pointers or experience with this they will be gratefully considered!

Heeeeeelp! I have done everything I can to try and get these subdomains to show up but still not joy. The domain name is hosted on Fasthosts and I've tried to point the DNS records at the DNS server on the dedicated but its still not working.

I have tried to point the hosted domain name at dns servers on the dedicated server but its still not working. I have tried to create the subdomains on fasthosts and point them at the directories where the subdomains reside but also that is not working.

If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

Sorry to post on a old thread, but I am having the same problem !

But I see Parallels support team are as helpful as their software !?

Did you have any luck @SteveW ?

Hi - its been a while but I'm pretty sure that I solved the problem on the hosting service where the domain name was resgistered. I created a simple wild card (*) in the dns settings for sub domains to point to the server ip. I did this for an old client so I don't have access to be able to go back and check but I hope that this is a similar problem and that I've provided enough info to fix it. Good luck.

Hi SteveW, yeah I know sorry for digging up an old post. But you seemed to have had the same problem.
I have now, also, just added a '*.domain.co.uk' entry into my DNS settings and all my sub-domains are working again.
Thanks for the help, a shame Parallels didn't pick this up ! And I hope it helps other too !
