  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Subdomains aren't resolveable

I have added a domain and a subdomain through the Plesk 8.0.1 control panel.

If I goto http://domain.com the Plesk default page shows up fine.
If I goto http://sub.domain.com I get an error saying the page isn't able to be displayed.

I have restarted the Apache2 server but this didn't help me.

Any ideas ?

I have a standard install of 8.0.1. All I have dont is entered the domain name in the control panel then added a subdomain.

The domain works fine, but the subdomain doesn't work.

An A record was automatically created by Plesk when I added the subdomain.

OK, now the main domain isn't resolveable. It says there is no index page but the default one is there.

All DNS records are set as default.

I'm not giving this program much longer before I delete it from my server.

Sounds like either 1) the domain is not registered on your nameservers but somewhere else, so the A record for the subdomain will need to be added there instead or 2) you'll just have to be patient, as the distributed nature of the DNS system causes updates to not be instant for everybody in the world.

I chmod'd the vhosts directory (chmod -R 777 vhosts) and the domains are all now resolveable. Strange that Plesk makes the directoryies but doesn't make them accessible.

That sounds totally weird... The vhosts dir (and all dirs underneath) on all my servers is just plain 755. Whether subdomains are resolvable depends on the DNS server, *not* on directory permissions of the vhosts dir.

probably just weird timing. im having problems with domains not resolving. can anyone help me with this?

@PlymWs and others with troubles:

Please output the results of this command:

cat /etc/group |grep psaserv

[root@badass ~]# cat /etc/group |grep psaserv
psaserv:x:2523:apache,psaftp,psaadm
