I'v been having some speed issues of late with my host so decided on getting a dedicated server with plesk as it was supposed to be easy to set up so they said :). All they have given me to help me to set up my server is 2 ip addresses Default username and Default password.
I'm a little lost here on how to set this up so i can transfer my site over from a shared hosting package. The main set up issue i have is wha details do i have to put Server preferences, System preferences, Full hostname? I asked my host to give me details of my hostname but they said thats what i have to set up myself in Plesk.

Can somebody please guide me on what i should be looking to do here as now my hosts have there money they want nothing to do with it.

Many Thanks

Ken

It seems a bit overwhelming until you do it once.

Step 1 : Making sure your ip addresses are known
Click on Server icon (left side)
Click on IP Addresses icon
If you see your 2 ip's you can go to step 2.
If your IPs are not there click on the "Add new IP Address"
enter the IP address/mask
mask can be 255.255.255.0

choose if the ip is to be dedicated (only one domain) or shared.
click ok.
Repeat for 2nd IP.

Step 2. Adding Clients
Click on Clients icon (left side)
Click on Add New Client Icon
Fill out at least the required info
click "Proceed to IP pool" check box
click OK
choose an IP adress and click OK

Step 3. Domain Setup
Click on the Add New Domain icon (in cleints view)
enter domain name
make sure proceed to hosting setup chek box is checked.
click ok

Choose Physical hosting an click OK
Fill in the information and Click OK

Your domain is set up.

when you log in via ssh using root
your domain will be located in

/var/www/vhosts/yourdomainname
your actual html code may go into
httpdocs
httpsdocs

if you chose a single directory for both regular and ssl access all your files will go into the httpdocs folder.

Thankyou for the reply :) I managed to sort it out late last night with some help. The only problem i have now is my ftp does not work altho it did last night.... I just keep getting the message "Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message" then it times out :(

Thankyou again for taking the time to reply to my first post :)
It really is appreciated.
