Turn off BIND or not?

Hello

I have a VPS and my host let me use his nameservers to use with the domainnames.

Because of this I don't use the DNS zone template in Plesk. So is it correct to think that I also can shut down the BIND service or does it have to run even when I use the nameservers on a other server?

Or does BIND also has other functions than only being a nameserver?
