  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Understanding Application Vault Packages

PSi_101

Regular Pleskian
I'm trying to understand the purpose of the "Application vault packages" component of the plesk updater/installer.
I haven't installed this package, yet i'm able to use the Application vault to download and deploy web applications to my customers.
If I don't need this installed to use the Application Vault, what is it for?

Thanks

What do you mean? If you have not installed 'Application vault packages' component - you haven't installed webapplications on your server.

Thanks for the reply Igor.
That's what I thought was strange too.
When I use either the command line parallels installer, or the Plesk updater from within Plesk, it says that the Application vault packages are not installed....but i've been using the Application Vault without problems.

I did a bit more digging.

It seems that the plesk-application-vault package is a metapackage for ALL of the applications in the APS catalog.

xxxxx:/opt/archive# aptitude show plesk-application-vault
No current or candidate version found for plesk-application-vault
Package: plesk-application-vault
State: not a real package

So if I actually installed this, it would install ALL packages from APS which I do not want.
Is my understanding of this correct?

Thanks

Yes, when you install this 'Application vault packages' components via autoinstaller, for example, all these packages with webapplications will be installed.
