• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Updating / Upgrading Components - Newbie

I've never upgraded components on a server before. I realize I should be doing this on a test server. I have a VPS I am not using and will probably try my luck there so I don't mess up my production server.

I thought I would start with Bind. I want to do this because I am getting a lot of lame server resolving. Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the upgrade prevent the lame server resolving or is that something I need to change in my named.conf file? I am no DNS Whiz. My current version is:
9.2.1-16

I'm running Plesk 7.5.4-rh9.build75050824.12. (under Virtuozzo 3.x on a RHEL4 Box).

Is this something I should download from a Parallels FTP site? If so, where do I go and how do I get a user name and password. I know I've paid for continued access to something.

I know some things like php have been modified by SW-Soft so do I need to download a SW-Soft modified version of Bind or get it from the ISC.org?

Do you recommend I just download the current version and use RPM?

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
