Upgrade bug after upgrading to Ubuntu 8.40 LTS

I've just updated from 8.3 to 8.6 and it seemed to upgrade fine.
I then upgraded Ubuntu from Gutsy to Hardy which seemed to go fine.

The problem is that Plesk is now stating there are upgrades available to upgrade to 8.6 etc...
If I attempt another upgrade from the updater or synaptics manager it fails with the error log below.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance, DM.

Hello DirtyMonkey,

What the issue do you need to fix? Plesk 8.6 is installed. Now Plesk will not install itself twice.

Hi Sergis, apt-get and synaptics are falsley reporting there are Plesk updates to 8.6 when 8.6 is already installed. I would like to fix this.

Cheers, DM.

I've just noticed plesk reports the following, which seemt to suggest it thinks I'm still running Ubuntu 7.10 LTS not 8.04 LTS although the kernel version is correct for Ubuntu 8.0.4 LTS Server:

CPU - GenuineIntel, Intel(R) Xeon(R)CPU X3210 @ 2.13GHz
Version - psa v8.6.0_build86080722.00 os_Ubuntu 7.10
OS - Linux 2.6.24-19-server
Key number - PLSK.00690523.0003
System Uptime: - 08:03

?

It is desired behaviour. Seems you have installed Plesk 8.6 on Ubuntu 7.10 and next have upgraded OS to 8.04

That is correct.

My apologies I missed your post stating that this is a bug.
Any idea on when a fix is likely to be available?

DM.

Same problem for me

I am facing the same problem. I have manually tried to uninstall psa and install it again numerous times, without success. The same message pops up:

Unable to upgrade. You have 8.6.0 version installed,
but upgrader is incompatible with this version.
To install new Plesk copy, please move '/opt/psa'
to another place manually.

Please let me know if there is a workaround available. My website is down due to this.

I was using Plesk v8.4.0 on Ubuntu 6.06. I upgraded to Plesk 8.6.0 and upgraded Ubuntu to 8.04 after that. Seems like "Plesk 8.6.0 for Ubuntu 6.06" was installed, so I started uninstalling and installing it again.

Thanks, Joakim

I have the same problem. Please post if any fixes are available.

Same problem with 8.6.0, server is unusable. How can the problem be resolved?

Unable to upgrade

I have the same problem:

I updated Plesk from 8.4.0 (ubuntu-dapper) to 8.6.0(ubuntu-dapper).
Later I upgraded ubuntu (via apt-get dist-ugrade) from dapper to hardy.

After some problems it finaly worked. Web, Email, etc is running well.
But Pesk Control Panel was down and couldn't be started.
I tried to update package psa several times using serveral methods (also using autointaller).
Always the same error occured:

Setting up psa (8.6.0-ubuntu8.04.build86080722.00) ...

I removed package psa an tried to reinstall it. The error remained.

So, will there be a bugfix and when?
Thankyou for this truly wanted informations!

same problems here, got a new vserver with Ubuntu 6.06.2 LTS, and Plesk 8.6.0

if i now upgrade to 8.04 LTS Plesk is unusable, because the wrong version of plesk is installed ( psa v8.6.0_build86080722.01 os_Ubuntu 6.06 ) - think it should be somethink like " psa v8.6.0_build86080722.01 os_Ubuntu 8.04 " ...

but cant get that work, like the guys before me, same errors on updating Plesk ...

This thread is a month old, but still no solutions ? - plz help us :)

BUMP!

Will the release of 8.6.0.1 resolve this issue?

DM.

I'm afraid this problem is related to Virtuozzo. At least, what I read on http://download1.parallels.com/Plesk/Plesk8.6/plesk-8.6.0-for-deb-based-os.html#ez_ai made me on thinking about this.

My Plesk is running as a virtual private server in a Virtuozzo Container, and the VPS Summary of the Virtuozzo Control Panels says, that the operating system is (still) ubuntu-he-6.06-x86.
So I'm afraid there is no possibility to run plesk again, before my provider updates the EZ templates. :-(

Any ideas?

FYI, I am not running Virtuozzo so this issue is not isolated to Virtuozzo Containers etc...

For what it's worth, I've just recieved confirmation there is still no fix for this issue at this time. :(

Same problem here

Upgrade to 8.6.0 then Gutsy to Hardy and now I can't update Plesk even though it says there is an update available - 8.6.0.1 apparently.

Same "upgrader is incompatible with this version" error.

I think a fix for this is overdue.

Same error - debian

Upgraded Plesk from 8.2.1 to 8.6.0 in Debian sarge yesterday. Followed that with a dist-upgrade of sarge to etch. Afterwards, Plesk said there were updates to 8.6.0, but failed to install them. I think it's because 8.6.0 Plesk sarge packages are installed, so Plesk wants to upgrade those to the Plesk 8.6.0 etch packages, but the Plesk installer can't tell the difference and thinks that 8.6.0 is already installed, so bails.
