• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Web Edition

The difference between Windows editions is in licensing. Does not matter for Plesk, generally, but Web edition is more restricted by Microsoft than Standard or Enterprise.

Also keep in mind that you can only get Web Ed by buying a server (Web Appliance) that comes with it installed (OEM). BUT, The OEM license for any of MS's software does not apply to charging users for using or accessing said software.. The OEM License is for internal company use only.

You will need an SPLA License for your software which you can only get through MS or one of their resellers. This also means you can be audited at anytime (make sure your licenses are legit).

As for the diffences in OS's, WebEd can only join an Active Directory domain, not Host one, thus, some packages (MSSql, Exchange) won't run on it.
