It asks for a login, WHILE I'm already logged into the plesk panel

THEN, it doesn't accept the web server admin account login........unbelievable

Fwiw, I don't think CPanel has HALF the bugs that plesk does.......lol

What you're experiencing is on your server which you setup.
Plesk has no problems with its basic functionality.
From time to time I am on other panels than Plesk...They are all horrible and buggy...

The setting to protect the Webstat - directory is done over your (sub)domain - specific hosting settings:
Web statistics (Protect access to your web statistics with your FTP username and password
... and has got nothing to do with your "admin" - account on your Plesk Control Panel.

The standart setting can be changed for each subsciption as well and at your service plan settings. :)
