Issue Weird characters in FTP transferred files

Edi Duluman

Basic Pleskian
Hello! And here is a weird one for you ... literally on all of my servers ( Plesk 17.8 ), if I transfer a long minified JS or CSS file via FTP so I can edit it, the following problem occurs: Imgur

But if you check the same file, directly via browser, or via Plesk's file editor, there seems to be no issue.
Screenshot can be seen here: Imgur

I have initially thought it's a FTP client issue, so I changed over from WinSCP to FileZilla. Issue persists.
Then, I thought it could be the editor's fault ( using VS Code at the moment ) so I switched back to my old buddy, Sublime Text 3. Again, same issue happened.

This, makes me think the issue is not on my end, but on the server, same happening to another friend that I asked to connect to the server and do the same things I did.

Therefore, I decided to ask you here, what could be the cause ? It is very annoying, everytime I have to change a file like that, I need to make sure that I copy it from the browser first, then overwrite the server file. I cannot ask clients to do the same ...

Could it be that you transfer the file in text/ascii mode (even "auto") ? If so, switch to binary and see if that helps.

Just a thought,
Cheers,
Tom
