Issue When restoring MySQL Database backup

Good day,

When I try an restore a backup of a MySQL database, I get the following error:

Warning: Restore domain "cycler.co.za"
Failed deployment of database bryton_web_db (domain cycler.co.za)
Warning:
Execution of /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/database.php --update bryton_web_db -add_user backup_5ig3IK3 -type mysql -server 192.168.1.4:3306 -set-acl % -passwd '' -ignore-nonexistent-options failed with return code 1. Stderr is Unable to create database user: Your password does not satisfy the current policy requirements

Could you please advise?

1. Tools & Settings > Security > Set "Minimum password strength" to "very weak"
2. Restore the database
3. Change the settings of (1.) back to what they've previously been.

This is still an issue.

Even with the latest version of Plesk, I cannot restore backups.

The password policy is already on minimum.

This is probably not a Plesk issue but a MySQL or MariaDB issue. Do you have password validation activated in your database? This is a plugin. If it is present, there might be a rule in your my.cnf configuration file that defines what the minimum requirements of a password are.

SQL> SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'validate_password%';

You could remove the plugin by
SQL> uninstall plugin validate_password;

You could change the policy, too:
SQL> SET GLOBAL validate_password_policy=LOW;
or permanently in my.cnf:

[mysqld]
validate_password_policy=LOW
