which owner/group settings of a subdomain if I want to change the owner

Hi,

I created subdomains on my server on the Plesk Panel for development of my Xt:c shop and a Joomla site.
So I connected to the server via ssh as root and made a working copy of the shop into the folder of the corresponding subdomain.
During development I always connected as root to the server.
How would I need to set the owner/group permissions of the files or the subdomain, if I wanted to change the owner / ftp-user of the subdomain. Are there some configuration files I'll have to alter?

Thanks, Michael
