Windows Updates

Hi,

was wondering if anyone knows a good way of applying windows updates without causing the server to crash? the last couple of windows updates of disabled the plesk control panel causing all sites to be offline! the last windows update (today) caused the server to crash, it hung on applying the updates.

I understand this can come down to the server configuration, however, wondering if anyone has a proper procedure for applying windows updates whilst plesk is running.
