• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

7.5.4 Update

Please make sure that you are not mixing up 'Secure Password' Authentication(SPA) with SMTP authentication 'My Server Requires Authentication'.

If you are turning on SPA, then sending will fail.

I have seen many people confuse the 2 types of authentication before, so just thought I'd throw that one out there...

James,

That sounds VERY interesting. However, I wonder if you could explain a bit more. Do you mean a setting in Plesk or a setting in my mail client?

In Plesk, "Server > Server-wide mail preferences"
I have it set to Relaying "authorization is required:" SMTP == checked

In my mail client, I have:
authentication:password (and that l/p entered)

IS there some OTHER place in Plesk to look for a SMTP setting, since I am unsure what you speak of.

Thanks!

In your email client (such as Outlook), you do *not* want to checkmark the secure password option. You do want to checkmark the 'Server requires authentication'.
