  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Hi everyone,

I'm struggling with a backup issue on Plesk Obsidian for Windows. I have a WordPress site that consistently fails during backup with the following error:

Unable to back up files from D:\Inetpub\vhosts\mydomain.com owned by system user.
Error: Failed to create archive: Repository error: Archiver error: unable to pack D:/Inetpub/vhosts\mydomain.com
Archive creation failed: (0x80004005) Unspecified error
See logged errors for more information.

What I've tried so far:

  1. Checked for stuck processes (RunCU.exe):
    • Verified via Task Manager — no stuck or running processes related to backups.
  2. Repaired webspace permissions using repair.exe:
    D:\Plesk\bin\repair.exe --repair-webspace-security -webspace-name mydomain.com
    • Output: Permissions for the specified subscription have been repaired.
    • No change, backup still fails
  • Checked Windows Event Viewer & Plesk logs:
    • Reviewed logs in:
      • Plesk\admin\logs\php_error.log
      • Plesk\admin\logs\plesklog_debug.log
      • Windows Event Viewer under Application Logs.
    • Found nothing relevant.
  • Analyzed Telemetry:
    • Tried to dig deeper but couldn’t find anything useful in Plesk's telemetry data.

My questions to isolate and solve the issue:
  1. Where else can I find detailed logs for Plesk's backup process?
  2. Is there a way to manually trigger the archiver outside Plesk?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

I add also that the file D:\Plesk\Backup\domains\mydomain.com\backup_user-data_[timestamp].zip is damaged!
