Change Hostname

Hi!

what is affected by the value of "Hostname" in the server-settings?

Can I change my hostname to any value I want to?

Regards
H.

Hello,

If you change the 'Full hostname' field at 'Server'->'Server preferences' page Parallels Plesk Panel (PP) will update it's database and all needed configuration files such as /etc/hosts, /etc/sysconfig/network, /var/qmail/control/me, etc...

Also, the current hostname can be taken from the console using the 'hostname' command.

Thus only the fully qualified host name should be set at this filed, so it can be resolved correctly.

Please, check the following article for more information:

Thank you

Hello

If you change this setting server's hostname is changed, new value will be written in /etc/hosts file, you can check it with
hostname -f
Server will be accessible at newly set hostname https://hostname:8443
New hostname should resolve to server's IP address. However it is not strict requirement.
