• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Creating DNS records via API RPC

New Pleskian
Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a way to create DNS records on a Plesk Panel account at the 'customer' level. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks in advance,

Tas

In otherwards creating DNS records without necessarily having a subscription / domain name in plesk, right?

Hi Abdi,

No, I want to create DNS records for accounts on plesk which are the standard user accounts with a domain / subscription.

To explain in more detail, what I'm trying to do is like this.

I've signed up for a plesk hosting account with my domain testingpleskapi.net.au. The server is running plesk 11.0. I have a basic web hosting account with no reseller or plesk administrator access. Ideally, I'd like to write some code which calls the API RPC method to add a DNS record. Is this scenario possible, or is it as the documentation states, a requirement to have Plesk Administrator access?

Many thanks.

You need Plesk admin account for using API RPC requests for Adding DNS Record.

Hi Igor,

Thanks for confirming. Do you know if this is ever likely to change? We are building a suite of tools for Office 365 which simplify the process of DNS record creation. It currently works with cPanel and we wanted to add Plesk to the list. Obviously not many people have Plesk administrator access.

You can see the tool here - https://tools.axiomit.com.au/. It's being used quite heavily already and we'd love Plesk to work with it.

Many thanks,

Tas
