Resolved Creating domain does not work

TinaBura

Basic Pleskian
OS: Debian 9.13
Product: Plesk Obsidian 18.0.38 Update #1

I try to create/add a new domain to Plesk. I have clicked on +Add Domain and selected Registered domain name. I have entered the domain name and then clicked on Add Domain. Now I can see a small modal window on the bottom saying:
Creating domain xxxx.com
progress bas
detailed progress

If I click on detailed progress, I can see the first step Creating a subscription running. All other 5 steps are queued. It is for half an hour now. I have already restarted the server from Tool&Settings. Nothing changes. The creating domain notification remains. The domain is not in the list of the domain.
What should I do now? It looks like domain cannot be created. I do not know why. I cannot cancel the process. Will Plesk try to stop the creation process on its own?
Thank you!
Tina Bura

I have managed to stop the tasks with these instructions  How to cancel a stuck task in Plesk
Then I have tried to create a domain again. It stuck again.
The domain in question was previously hosted on the same Plesk server as alias domain. I have removed the alias and try to create a new domain as webspace. Can somebody help to figure out, why it does not work?
Tina

I'd suggest you try to troubleshoot it with Plesk logs /var/log/plesk/panel.log and /var/log/sw-cp-server/sw-engine.log

Thank you!
/var/log/sw-cp-server/sw-engine.log is empty
/var/log/plesk/panel.log does not contain anything related to domain creation.

Any other idea? The process gets stuck on Creating a subscription step. Trying to create a temporary domain -> same behavior. I do not use subscriptions, I am the only admin user on this server.

Any help?

Hi,
I have enabled the logs. There is still nothing there right after domain creation.
  • /var/log/sw-cp-server/sw-engine.log contains log from task cancellation  How to cancel a stuck task in Plesk
  • /var/log/plesk/panel.log contains SQL queries from task cancellation and some other SQL queries

I do not know what I have to look for.

Additionally, I have found out that Update & Sync of Service Plan (Unlimited) where all domains sit, gets stuck as well. I cannot see any errors in /var/log/plesk/panel.log. The process just never ends.

I'd suggest you contact Plesk Support Team, they will check and fix the issue directly on your server.

I have tried to get support. Unfortunately, Plesk Support Team does not give any support for the reseller licenses. My provider (reseller) tells I have to solve it on my own as this is a root server. They do not give any support.
Are there any other ideas of how I can at least debug the issue? At the moment I just have stuck tasks and no error. The issue occurs while:
  • creating registered domain (stuck on first step Creating subscription)
  • creating temporary domain (stuck on first step Creating subscription)
  • creating subdomain (stuck on first step Creating subscription)
  • updating and synchronizing service plan
I do not use any subscriptions. This is not a customer server, so I have never created, changed or modified any subscriptions or service plan. I am the only person who has admin access to this server.
Any hint is appreciated.
Thank you!

I have managed to create a new domain via command line. No issues.
It seems to be something wrong with Plesk panel itself.

I am still unable to create a domain via Plesk GUI. And it works on the command line without issue. I have tried different browsers, emptied the cache. Has somebody an idea what I can check else?

@IgorG , thank you.
I have purchased support, but I am unable to install "Support SSH Access" Extension. This task hangs the same way as domain creation. There are three tasks in longtasks table, that are not started:
  • sync-service-plan
  • aps-cache
  • ext-catalog-install
Probably, I can install the extension via CLI?

check your fiewall, i had same problem and i disabled firewall temporary, works fine!

Just to report back: I have contacted support. The issue was a Debian upgrade. It was not quite complete. I had to upgrade all Debian packages manually to solve the issue.
