After the update on 11-3 all entries of named.conf are erased and DNS Server is not available anymore in the plesk services manager

Result: All sites offline

Need urgent help how to solve this !

this was done in the first place.

I made a tocket at 4psa.com:

After updating plesk (03-11-2007) all entries of named.conf are erased (backup is put back) and DNS is not showing in the plesk services monitor.

Sites were down, but after restoring the map C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\dns\var sites were available again.

Now problem is that DNS is probably not working under Plesk.

I Created a new subdomain that is not showing online (Normally within a few moments)

According to that screen there is no DNS service running.

I have a NS3 working on a 2nd server so i think websites are found through that NSserver

Is the component version listed for the DNS server "DNS service is switched off"?

If so, is the "DNS Server" heading a link? If it is you can click this link and select BIND or another name server on the list.

If this is not a link then Plesk has not detected any of the DNS servers installed, or there is none installed.

I would suggest checking in Add/Remove programs, finding Plesk and clicking the "Change Button".

You should ensure that there is a DNS server installed within here. If there is you can run this command

%plesk_bin%\defpackagemng.exe --fix

When i look at Modify-repair installation of Plesk, the option DNS server SHOULD be installed... Although it isn't installed.

I tried to repair the installation and rebootet, but still no DNSserver

There is no DNS Server installed. But when i look at the setup of Plesk it should be installed.

But no DNS available

Can I remove it from installation and re-install it again ?

If you un-check the BIND option within the installer, complete that and reinstalled BIND by enabling it again that may fix the problem
