DNS NameServers

    We have plesk running on a dedicated box that hosts our website and a few others.

    Now all seems to work fine but i cannot ping ns1.superserver.co.uk or ns2.superserver.co.uk

      ns.superserver.co.uk. A 217.146.91.225

      ns2.superserver.co.uk. A 217.146.91.230
      ns2.superserver.co.uk. NS ns2.superserver.co.uk.
      superserver.co.uk. A 217.146.91.225
      superserver.co.uk. MX (10) mail.superserver.co.uk.
      superserver.co.uk. NS ns1.superserver.co.uk.
      superserver.co.uk. NS ns2.superserver.co.uk.

    is our DNS settings. are they correct?

    According to http://www.dnsreport.com:

    WARNING: At least one of your nameservers did not return your NS records (it reported 0 answers). This could be because of a referral, if you have a lame nameserver (which would need to be fixed).

    217.146.91.230 returns 0 answers (may be a referral


    any help is appreciated

    First, clean up your DNS entries.

    Remove the following:

    ns1.superserver.co.uk. NS ns1.superserver.co.uk.
    ns2.superserver.co.uk. NS ns2.superserver.co.uk.

    Since they are incorrect.

    Restart bind and retest locally. You may need to wait for the DNS to repropagate for the links from dnsstuff to work.

    Also, make sure your firewall has the DNS ports open.
