• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

DNS Zone Basic Question

I bought a VPS server with Ipower. I got one IP address.
I created a domain in Plesk. It created DNS zone records according to the installed template. The DNS records Plesk created contain, among other items, the following NS records:

knf.com. NS ns.knf.com.
ns.knf.com. A 72.22.80.187

The tutorial at Ipower instructed me to create 2 nameservers at my registrar, namely, NS1.KNF.COM and NS2.KNF.COM both pointing to the one IP address I was given.

My question is, should I modify my DNS zone records to match at least one of the 2 nameservers names (NS1. instead of NS.)?

knf.com. NS ns1.knf.com.
ns1.knf.com. A 72.22.80.187

Thanks.

Hello there,

You could use either ns or ns1 as long as it's the same.
I would use ns1 since it's more common on the internet.
