  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Email-Quota and Notifications

Hey there,

I don't know whether this is the right forum to ask this, my question is regarding plesk 9.2.1 , qmail and the mailbox-quota.

Actually, what I'm trying to do is very simple. I've turned on all notifications if a limit is exceeded. But, that settings for notifications when the mailbox-quota is exceeded seem only to apply on a per-domain or per-customer basis.

meaning, when a single mailbox is full, but neither the domain nor the customer limit is reached, NOONE gets notified.

So if a user's mailbox is full, qmail just won't accept any email, and nobody knows about it, because no notification is sent. Can I change that somehow? Did I just miss to set-up a special notification???

Thanks in advance!!

Cheers!

Hello,

Actually Parallels Plesk Panel 9.2 do not provide such functionality directly. So there is no button in the GUI that you can just check. However you can create your own event handler that will check that there is enough space to deliver the message. You can use the following guide in order to do this:

http://download1.parallels.com/Plesk/PPP9/Doc/en-US/plesk-9.2-unix-mod-guide.pdf

Please see page 33.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hello Andrej,

thanks, I will look into it, but am not sure whether I will do this via a qmail handler. I've also found some answers here that suggest to use a shellscript to just compare quotas and actual maildir sizes. But thanks for the hint!! :)

Hello MaxZ

Do you solved this problem with notyfication to admin if client mailbox is full

I need this functionality too

Hello Jarb,

I'm actually not quite sure anymore what I did, but there are quite a few guides on the internet now (I found many in German but surely there are some in English, too) on how to solve this via shellscript with a cronjob.

I don't think I implemented my own qmail handler.

But I am likely to face the same problem on a different server soon, so if I do, I'll let you know how I solved it there.

Best

Max
