Error creating a new subscription.............

New Pleskian
Good day everyone,

I am new to Parallels software, more specifically Parallels Panels. I have installed a trial copy of the software on my Windows 2008 R2 SP1. This is a Dedicated machine with no other users on it. I presume installation of Panels was successful because I can log in and see the admin control panel. I created a customer with success. I am now trying to create a subscription using the default service plan. After entering all the appropriate info on the new subscription page and submitting it, a few moments later I receive the following error:

Error: Filename: \\?\C:\Inetpub\vhosts\testyourwebhostingprosite.com\httpdocs\web.config Error: The configuration section 'system.webServer/rewrite/rules' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration In module Exception type: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException at Microsoft.Web.Administration.Interop.AppHostWritableAdminManager.GetAdminSection(String bstrSectionName, String bstrSectionPath) at Microsoft.Web.Administration.Configuration.GetSectionInternal(ConfigurationSection section, String sectionPath, String locationPath) at ServerManagerFactory.getSectionInternal(String sectionPath, Type sectionType, String location) at ServerManagerFactory.getRewriteRuleSection(String location) at IIS7RewriteRules.Enum.getRules(Enum* ) at IIS7RewriteRules.Enum.{ctor}(Enum* , String siteName, String path) at IIS7RewriteRules.getEnum(IIS7RewriteRules* , auto_ptr* ) (Error code 1)

I will admit up front that I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to Windows Server OS and it's configuration but I am attempting to learn very quickly. Would someone be kind to this newbie and point me in the right direction to solve this error that I am receiving?

Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding!

Looks like that installation or upgrade was not completed successfully. Try to complete and fix it with

ai.exe --console

Thank you IgorG for your thoughts and suggestion. Unfortunately the command you suggested did not run at all so I thought, as you said, maybe it was a bad install. So, I uninstalled Panels and re-installed again using the "Complete" selection not the "Typical" install. Appears the install completed successfully. Once again attempted to create my initial webspace and I get I still receive an error noted below.

Error: Filename: \\?\C:\Inetpub\vhosts\WIN-DED0303.yourwebhostingpro.com\httpdocs\web.config

Anyone else have any ideas or solutions?

As a side note, it is very interesting that Parallels gives you the ability to "try before buy" on a 15 day trial but nowhere, other than FAQ or Community forums, provides technical assistance for the trial period. If a person had a problem during the trial and couldn't resolve it, like myself, what is the incentive to purchase the product. if I am on an island now during my trial how big of an island am I going to be on after purchasing the product.

Fix:

A)
Goto control panel

B)
- Catagory view: Click Programs > Programs and Features
- Icon View > Programs and Features

C)
Uninstall: IIS URL ReWrite Module 2 (if you can't see this item, goto next step)

D)
Download: http://www.iis.net/downloads/microsoft/url-rewrite

if you get any weird errors STRAIGHT after installation, close server manager (if it's open) and do a repair on IIS URL Rewrite Module 2

Post back updates please!
