Sorry I saw that pecl memcache-beta is not written for php 7. Any other solution on how to install memcache with plesk alternate php 7?

Hi yehudigt,

For Plesk - PHP - versions and CentOS 7, you could as well use:

  1. UNZIP OR EXTRACT THE *.ZIP, *.TAR, *.TGZ OR *.TAR.GZ TO A FOLDER OF YOUR DESIRE AND MOVE TO THE FOLDER WITH "cd /extracted/folder/name"
    1. In your case, that you would like to use "memcache", you could use: mkdir -p /root/pecl/memcache
    2. cd /root/pecl/memcache
    3. wget https://github.com/websupport-sk/pecl-memcache/archive/NON_BLOCKING_IO_php7.zip
    4. unzip NON_BLOCKING_IO_php7.zip
    5. cd pecl-memcache-NON_BLOCKING_IO_php7
  2. /opt/plesk/php/X.X/bin/phpize
    1. In your case, that you would like to use "Plesk PHP 7", you could use: /opt/plesk/php/7.0/bin/phpize
  3. ./configure --with-php-config=/opt/plesk/php/X.X/bin/php-config
    1. In your case, that you would like to use "Plesk PHP 7", you could use: ./configure --with-php-config=/opt/plesk/php/7.0/bin/php-config
  4. make
  5. Copy the "*.so" - file to your depending Plesk - PHP - module - folder
    1. In your case, that you would like to use "Plesk PHP 7", you could use: cp /root/pecl/memcache/pecl-memcache-NON_BLOCKING_IO_php7/modules/memcache.so /opt/plesk/php/7.0/lib/php/modules
  6. echo "extension = EXTENSIONNAME.so" > /opt/plesk/php/X.X/etc/php.d/EXTENSIONNAME.ini
    1. In your case, that you would like to use "Plesk PHP 7", you could use: echo "extension = memcache.so" > /opt/plesk/php/7.0/etc/php.d/memcache.ini
  7. plesk bin php_handler --reread
  8. service plesk-php70-fpm restart && service httpd restart

Thank you UFHH01,
you're always precious!!
Meanwhile I managed to install memcached in a similar way:

975 git clone https://github.com/php-memcached-dev/php-memcached.git
976 cd php-memcached/
977 git checkout php7
978 /opt/plesk/php/7.0/bin/phpize
979 ./configure --disable-memcached-sasl --with-php-config=/opt/plesk/php/7.0/bin/php-config
980 make && make install

I'll try also your solution and let you know.
In your opinion, which would be best for performance, memcached or memcache?
