Error updating license key on 11.5.30

Funboy1963

New Pleskian
Hi,

I am having issues with updating my license key as shown below which ran out on January 6th for version 11.5.30, I am on a 1&1 dedicated server account so there should be no issue over license renewal payment, unless you know otherwise!

After trying to login into the panel I get presented with the update keys page which then shows the following error at the top of the page:

Error: The license key is invalid. In order to use Panel, please obtain and install a new valid license key.
Your license key has expired. To continue using your Panel, you must purchase a non-expiring commercial license key.

Error shown after pressing Retrieve Keys:

Key Update Status
Unable to connect to license server https://ka.parallels.com:5224/xmlrpc.
cURL error description: Couldn't connect to server(7)

I have checked the nslookup and all looks OK to me?

# nslookup ka.parallels.com Server: 10.255.255.3
Address: 10.255.255.3#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: ka.parallels.com
Address: 77.245.23.80

I have never had this issue before and have not updated anything on the server so unless its been a Parallels update I have no clue for the fix. As you can imagine this is now preventing me from having access to our server which is obviously not good. Any ideas on what to try is gratefully welcome.

Make sure that ka.parallels.com is resolvable on this IP address and port 5224 is accessible for connection:

$ host ka.parallels.com
ka.parallels.com has address 77.245.23.80
ka.parallels.com has IPv6 address 2001:4168:1236::80

$ telnet ka.parallels.com 5224
Trying 77.245.23.80...
Connected to ka.parallels.com.

Hi IgorG,

Many thanks for your reply, I tried your suggestions this however did not help, I then did some further rechecking against the IP address which failed Jan 23rd, today Jan 24th and as you will see there is now a response.

So what did I have to change to get this working, well I am not sure if Parallels have altered any of their configuration regarding licensing updates but after doing a Whois domain name check on parallels.com I noticed within the Registrant and Administrative Contact details that they were registered in Switzerland as opposed to the USA. As I use Atomic Secured Linux to geo block countries and knowing (CH) Switzerland was one which is blocked on my server I temporary allowed it to see what would happen, this has now resolved the licensing update issue.

So my question is has this been altered recently as I have always had CH geo blocked due to a licensing restriction imposed on us by a third party royalty company as we stream music services and are only licensed for certain countries.
