if you have both .i386 and .x86_64 installed of apr and apr-util and are using x86_64 installs of everything, you just need to do

I'm experiencing the same issue. But I'm hesitating to run the above-posted commands:

if you have both .i386 and .x86_64 installed of apr and apr-util and are using x86_64 installs of everything, you just need to do

rpm -e --justdb apr-util.i386

and the upgrade will run as normal. seems that having both binaries installed is bad

They will remove the entries of apr and apr-util in the package database. Is this a feasible workaround and is it recommended?

Now to reinstall subversion

rpm -e --justdb apr.i386
rpm -e --justdb apr-util.i386

Using this did allow me to get plesk working again however I now cannot reinstall subversion as I had already removed it to try and resolve this issue. Anyone got any ideas?

I have the same issue (CentOS 5.6, x86_64, Plesk 10.4.4):

If I run

I suppose that it will update only the x86_64 package of arp and leave the old package of i386.
I don't know if this is good on a production system.

CentOS installs by default both, i386 and x86_64 archs of packages: apr, apr-util and subversion.
So, I believe that Plesk should provide updates for both archs of these three packages in order not to break rpm db.

so it seems plesk ships apr-1.4.6 and apr-util-1.4.1 but no devel versions of it.
centos default apr version is 1.2.7 but plesk ships httpd-2.2.22 which has dependency for
apr version > 1.3.0

As you may see from my error above, the problem occurs with the i386 version of apr-util and subversion packages.
I suppose that parallels should provide newer packages for apr-util and supbversion for both, x86_64 and i386 architectures, in order to be able to proceed with the update.
Notice that both architectures have been installed by default by CentOS.

I tried to upgrade Plesk to 11.0.9 (instead of just installing updates of 10.4.4), in case it was corrected for that version, but that made things worst. Some packages were upgraded to 11.0.9 while others remained to 10.4.4 because upgrade failed with same error (with apr-util and subversion dependencies I mentioned previously).

So, I had to contact to parallels technical support and they did what in the forum has been said to work. They removed ι386 version of apr-util with command:

# yum remove apr-util.i386

i386 version of subversion package was also removed as a dependency.

Interesting aside - and I'm not sure why this is the case... I have three linux servers running Plesk. Only one (the one with the problem) has the /usr/lib/apr-1 directory.

My guess is this server installation has something installed that the others don't.
