File quantity limit

I've installed a gallery on my VPS, and I keep hitting some sort of file upload ceiling, so I'm wondering if there's a file limit (quantity) per folder, or just a quantity limit in plesk.

The gallery is coppermine, which I know doesn't have a limit, or no limit that I've ever reached before.

By creating another user account, I also create another folder, which also seems to follow the quantity limit (not for that folder, but the site overall). I'm at the point where I cannot upload via html, plesk, flash, or FTP.
