How antivirus work on Plesk 11.5

Hello,
I have Plesk Control Panel v. 11.5.30 Update #3.
I not understand how antivirus work.
The integrated antivirus on Plesk (Parallels Premium Antivirus) protects only against viruses received via email or also performs periodic scans in all folders on the server for viruses ?

on mailbox settings screen you can just choose three options:
- only incoming mail
- only outgoing mail
- incoming and outgoing mail
nothing more.
