Если Вы желаете использовать различные Плесковые модули типа iptables, VPN, fileserver, то понадобится поддержка iptables, tun/tap, smbfs в ядре. Просто для работы Плеска никаких особенных требований к ядру нет, обычно рекомедуется использовать дефолтное ядро от вендора дистрибутива.
