• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

How to use Google Webmaster tools and Verify?

Our customer has a site with modules used, and SB generates pages with .php extension. He wants to use Google webmaster tools at
www.google.com/webmaster/tools , and needs to create either :

1) a unique filename called googlee13ad59f36368c5c.html as a page of his website, and get Google to verify page exists.
We cannot do this as he uses modules and SB generates pages with .php extension, so Google Verify fails with Error 404, or

2) Insert a unique string which MUST be in the <HEAD> section similar to <meta name="verify-v1" content="3ZMzXXQ24H95yOk/pFMljy5wTBBIixRogQyc3igk=" /> This fails
as we cannot place the Meta string between the <head> and </head> sections, only in the content.

If this site did not use Modules, and SB generated .html pages then I could add a new page and rename it to googlee13ad59f36368c5c.html

Example website at http://www.cradleaccommodation.co.za/

The Google Webmaster help is at
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35638&hl=en

What is solution, or workaround?

Just create something and name it googlee13ad59f36368c5c.html and FTP it up to the server. Even a text file with that name can be FTP'd up to your server and that will satisfy Google. You have to do this outside of SB though.

It works

Thanks Jbays :) This worked, and we could get google Verification done.

I asked our tech support to create file googlee13ad59f36368c5c.html , but we were concerned that a re-publish (or full re-publish) would delete the file - but it did not.
(We couldn't ftp the file as our server uses Xcopy method to publish to same server, and ftp had been disabled).

Just FYI that you'll have to do a similar thing for Yahoo to authenticate your site. The only difference is Yahoo gives you a file to download, you don't have to create it yourself. But you'll still have to copy it up to your server to be authenticated.

You submit your site to Yahoo here: https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit

Going from memory here, but after you submit a site it should take you to a page that allows you to manage your sites, I think it's called 'My Sites'. On that page is the 'Authenticate' button you'll need to use. Good luck.
