• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Licence restrictions / backup / restore...

Hi All

I am just wondering if anyone can shed any light on any possible restrictions with the Plesk license's - from a backup / disaster recovery point of view what would happen in the following theoretical situation:

- 1 Server with a single Plesk license hosting multiple sites.
- This server is destroyed / damaged beyond repair including the drives.
- All data has been backed up to another machine using the Plesk backup manager
- 1 new server is setup with the same OS / Plesk version

...would you be able to just upload the license key / file from the previous server and restore the data or is the license tied to the previous machine?

I am sure the Plesk backup / restore program works fine but I would like test / dummy run this process before making our newly aquired Plesk server / license live!

Thanks in Advance for any responses!
Rob

Plesk license key is not related to server's hardware. You can use license on any hardware node.
