  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Mail server settings

Hi,

I am using Plesk to manage my Linux server and currently have 3 or 4 websites that are managed and hosted on there.

At the moment, the mail server is swicthed off (relaying set to 'closed' in server wide mail preferences) as one of the websites receives huge amounts of spam. This website doesn't have any email accounts associated with it and is therefore not required. However, when relaying was open, the mail queue seemed to be filling up (about 45,000 emails), and when I tried to empty the mail queue this caused a memory overload that meant I couldn't even log into Plesk without receiving a memory error.

If I set relaying to 'open' this obviously opens up the server to the spam issue as already mentioned, but is there a way to suspend mail on a particular website so that the others have access to mail capabilities? Also, I'm not sure I understand how the 'authorization is required' option within the relaying options works, and how to set this up in a PHP script for example to process a contact form. Would this setting also remove the spamming issues?

I hope I've explained clearly, but if not please let me know and I will be happy to elaborate on any of the points above.

The current version of plesk I am using is 9.5.3.

Thanks,
Matt
