• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Hi guys
I have this issue in a new installation
cron started sending me the following e-mails a few days ago:

/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
error: error running shared postrotate script for '/var/log/apache2/*.log '
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate exited with return code 1

the solution on plesk is : Install the latest Plesk micro-updates.
but I have all update. It´s a new server , a new installation.
Also , I read this question 15 years ago in debian lists
thks in advance guys

There are punctual problems in SystemD handling the main Apache process. Try to do the following:

Restart Apache service:

# systemctl restart apache2

Verify that Apache service can be reloaded successfully with these commands:

# systemctl reload apache2

# invoke-rc.d apache2 reload

If the issue persists, contact Plesk Support

hi IgorG
thks for your support
theses are the answers:

# systemctl restart apache2
# systemctl reload apache2
# invoke-rc.d apache2 reload
Job for apache2.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status apache2.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
invoke-rc.d: initscript apache2, action "reload" failed.

As you can see Apache cannot be reloaded correctly and that's a reason. For fixing the issue directly on your server I suggest you contact Plesk Support Team.

Hi again
Thks for reply:
1.- Our Plesk License is a license through the strato provider. this way , we do not have official sopport. And Strato does not offer support
2.- Does it a fatal issue, what problems can it cause?

thks for all.

According to the first log Apache is up and running without any issues. You'll need to find the date and time in the log where Apache failed to restart or reload.

The second log only shows the current transactions for some auth and mail transactions.

By the way, but not linked to your question, the entry " plesk sendmail[25473]: fork failed (11): Resource temporarily unavailable " could point to a resource issue (not enough RAM).

Thanks for your help, Peter, once again.
So, Do I forget that mistake? It's not important. Because really Apache is running and the webs on the server like www.zainder.com are online
