  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

In the release note to migrate to 8.6, you wrote:

IMPORTANT:
If you are using an operating system from SuSe family: Before installing Plesk Control Panel 8, switch the AppArmor service off using the command '/etc/init.d/boot.apparmor stop' and remove it from start-up list by 'chkconfig --del boot.apparmor stop'

I'm using Suse and I want to start the migration using the Plesk control Panel -> Server -> Updater menu.

So:

1) As I only want to upgrade 8.4->8.6, do I need to make the change about AppArmor ?
2) Once the upgrade is comleted, should I let the AppArmor change as it or should I reset it in its initial state ?

Thanks for your reply.
Cheers,
JZ

Hello baden32,

Plesk does not support AppArmor. So we recommend you to switch it off.

Before to simply switch it off, could you let me know what is "AppArmor" and what it is supposed to do on a suse system?

Hi Sergio,
Thanks for your reply. As far as I understand AppArmor is a security component, right? Is there no risk to diesable this service?

It provides additional security, but it doesn't play nice with Plesk, so if you want to avoid problems you better disable it. (AppArmor is the counterpart to RHEL/CentOS/Fedora's SELinux implementation.)
