Migration/Transfer Manager problems with Plesk 11.0

I try to use the Migration manager on one of my server to retrieve the configurations from an older server with plesk 11 installed too.
Every time I place the credentials for the old system:

User: root
Pw:
etc...
I get this error:
Unknown username or password

eventhough I can use exactly those credentials to login with a simple ssh console.
Anyone some idea what could be the problem there, or where I have to search for some more debbugging info's?
I've checked all the logs and did run the spider tool but nothing showed me any way to solve that problem.

Cause

Parallels Migration Manager unable to deploy scout if user password contains special symbols like '$','#','?' or others.

Workaround

Set up new password for the user account which is used for migration. It should not contain special symbols.

Thank you for that information, but the password I use, does not have any special charakter.
Just upper and lowercase letters and digits.
Any other ideas what could cause the problem?
