  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved Missing Restricted Mode Settings in Web Admin Edition?

Andrea Bampi

New Pleskian
Hello,
I'm configuring a new server (VPS) with Obsidian 18.0.38, immediately upgraded to .39 and a Web Admin license (it will be used just for a single website).
Just a couple of months ago I got another small server with the same type of license and just a slightly older Plesk version (18.0.35, never upgraded).
When I set up a new domain on the NEW server, I see some crucial Hosting Settings as locked/not editable, such SSL support, SEO redirection http/https, PHP version ecc. (see screenshot)
I googled many similar issues but they all seem to involve the "Restricted Mode" and seem to be quite easily resolved changing settings there.
BIG PROBLEM: I don't have the Restricted Mode Settings link under PLESK in the Tools & Settings page! And I know where it's supposed to be, since the link is perfectly working on the other server... If i try to access the Restricted Mode Settings page cut'n'pasting the same url I use on the older server, I get a "Permission denied" error on the new one.
What am I supposed to do?
I want to be free to test different PHP versions, FPM vs Apache ecc ecc... and some test domains WITHOUT ssl (hence without any autoredirection from http to https...)
thanks for any advice!

I found the solution after some hours spent on the Plesk Support documentation... here it is (in case anyone else incurs in the same issue):

It seems that in my installation for some unknown reason the root/admin user was forced to "Restricted Access" - meaning no user had the chance to revert back to Power User permissions, since the link to the Restricted Mode Settings is obviously hidden when Access is restricted.
Using the SSH command shown in the page above disables the Restricted Access option.
NOTE: the standard command doesn't work with a Web Admin license, this is the only page containing the Web Admin alternate command.
