  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

themew

Regular Pleskian
The changelog for January 29th shows

upload_2019-1-29_14-1-43.png

for Plesk update Plesk Onyx 17.8.11 Update 38 which was updated.

However, the server is still displaying the previous NGINX and OpenSSL versions. Plesk update manager shows there is no updates and SSH into the server shows no updates.

So how to we get these new posted versions of NGINX and OpenSSL?

Our Plesk 17.8.11 setup is still on Nginx 1.14.1 but that's correct :)

In the Plesk changelog, the upgrade from Nginx from 1.14.1 > 1.14.2 is ONLY applicable to 17.5.3 via update #66
The 17.8.11 update #38 does NOT include the upgrade from Nginx from 1.14.1 > 1.14.2
It's possible to confuse the two if speed reading, but it's pretty clear if you look back at the changelog page again

The same item, being upgrade on slightly different timescales for the various Plesk versions has happened before, so we guess the next (or future) 17.8.11 update will include this.

@learning_curve I always enjoy, follow and learn from your posts, but based on the way the changelog is posted, eg. Jan 15, 2019, the version of Plesk is first posted, then Linux and Windows updates for that version followed by the older versions of Plesk and their respective Linux and Windows updates. Finally after all the version changes, 3rd Party Component Updates are listed, also in Linux then Windows order.

So, based on the standard format of the Plesk Changelog -- we're missing some 17.8.11 updates :)

Likewise @themew and thanks!

The only thing we'll add, is that the page's standard format is consistently inconsistent :D:D

Having said that, we think that regardless of any inconsistencies, On the changlog page, update #38 for 17.8.11 does not appear to include the nginx update nor the other two items shown in the focused screen grab pic above. We'd still say (guess) that the Plesk 28th January post, does indicate that the three Linux "Third Party Components" updates, only apply to 17.5.3 #66 and nothing else. That's how we've read it. We've ordered new reading glasses for ourselves though, just in case :p

Hopefully someone from Plesk will clarify this shortly on here, for all of our benefit ;)

Guys, sorry, but I did not understand what the problem was. In my opinion, it is absolutely clear that the Third-Party Components updates are applicable only for Plesk Onyx 17.5.3 Update 66
