Hello,

A few days ago I had a problem with my qmail where I needed at the time to re-install it from the SWSoft's downloads.

Now, my system is a open relay, I can send messages without authenticate, I already tested it with abuse.net and it is in fact all open!

In the PSA I do have authentication required (SMTP), but, that doesn't seem to be working at all...

HELP! What should I do? I'm having >1000 messages in less than 1 hour.... gulp!

Thanks in advance

It is enabled, also, following KB article steps it also appears that everything is fine. However, if I try to send an email to an address outside the server and without any SMTP authentication, the message is sent :/

Are you trying to send it from the server where the Plesk and its mail server is installed? If yes, then it's ok as authentication is not required if sending mail from localhost.

No, I'm trying to send from a temporary outlook account I've created to test it.

In this account, I'm using an address that exists in the machine but with a wrong password, also, I've deactivated SMTP auth in this outlook account. The mail is always sent, even if it is to an address that does not exists in the machine (hotmail, gmail..)

In the control panel, I do have SMTP auth on

Having the same problem!

Running Plesk 8.2.1 and am having the same problem. Hosting company has reinstalled qmail and site is still functioning as an open relay.

My mail relaying preferences for server are set to authorization required - SMTP.

Open relay tests (at DNSStuff.com, a consultant telneting into port 25, and my sending an email from Outlook using a bogus account and my outgoing mail server) confirm that it is open, and I am also getting thousands of messages coming through the server.

How can I close this?
