Openssl upgrade?

Can openssl be upgraded from http://www.openssl.org/source/openssl-0.9.8b.tar.gz to
http://www.openssl.org/source/openssl-0.9.8g.tar.gz

Or, is this a bad idea with plesk?

I am running plesk 8.3.0 on Redhat 5

Just use 'yum update' to keep your system up to date. Red Hat backports fixes: http://www.redhat.com/advice/speaks_backport.html So checking version numbers with upstream are not a reliable way to see if you're up to date.

[root@ ~]# yum update openssl

Could not find update match for openssl
No Packages marked for Update/Obsoletion
[root@ ~]#

Current version is 0.9.8g, needs my version an update, or is it patsched and up2date?
