Opinions about securuty - php functions (disable)

Our manager is suggesting to disable all this php functions, regarding to improve security,
i would like to hear your opinion about that

if your customers can live with all these functions disabled why not?
Improving security and disabling non required functions is always better than having them enabled.

Yes, For the security purpose I will suggest you disable at least following function on your server.

show_source, system, shell_exec, passthru, exec, phpinfo, popen, proc_open, allow_url_fopen, ini_set
