Plesk + DNS Zones + MX + Webmail

Hi guys! I'm a recent switch from CPanel and I'm loving Plesk except for one thing.

I'm having great touble with the DNS Zones and my webmail.

Plesk says that I'm suppoosed to check my webmail over at http://webmail.domain.com, however, this address resolves to a Plesk-generated page.

I went to check the DNS Zones and here is what I have:

http://xs316.xs.to/xs316/07264/dnszones.jpg

The people from support say the following:

There are no CNAME records added for your webmail, please add the CNAME record to work your webmail. Also the domains and subdomains needs to configure at your end. Once you have created the domains and subdomains you need to add the DNS records for them in plesk with the IP address of the server.

The problem is that I don't understand what this guy is trying to say. If you look at the image above, it seems that what he's saying is already done.

All I want to do is check my email via webmail. Is it really that hard to do? What should I do to set this up? Shouldn't Plesk have already generated the subdomain and the DNS Zone for it? If it hasn't, why does webmail.domain.net resolve to the auto-generated-by-Plesk page?

Thanks!

You need to create an A record for webmail. In the domain's control panel go to "DNS Settings" -> "Add Record" -> Then select 'A' under "Record Type" - type "webmail" in the box before the domain name and then in the IP box below enter the main IP for the server. It may take a little while to propagate the DNS but it should work then.

On another note, what is the number '255' doing in your MX record? It should simply be "mail.domain.com.

Hi. I posted this on another board too and I solved it.

The 255 was automatically put there by Plesk. No idea what it means. :S
